The Day Has Come: Welcome to The FilmLoft!
The day has finally come. If you have been following this site for a while, you might have noticed some major changes brewing in the background. From this day onward, Filmloftet officially becomes FilmLoft, and we are making a massive transition: we are switching our language from Norwegian to English across the entire site.
On a technical level, migrating a passionate blog like this is a huge job. We are rebuilding everything from the menus to the digital video store, and translating our massive archive of reviews and deep dives. It will take some time, and the site will transform bit by bit over the coming weeks, but I can assure you that the effort is absolutely worth it.
So, why make this massive leap? The answer is simple. My co-writer Ator and I want to reach out to dedicated film nerds all over the wide world. Norway is a beautiful country, but it is small. There simply are not enough local movie buffs who truly care about the golden era of VHS, practical special effects, and the pure magic of 80s and 90s genre cinema.
Retro film lovers
We know that out there across the globe, there is a massive, hungry community of retro film lovers. We see it on Letterboxd, on YouTube, and on social media. Filmloft want to be a part of that global conversation. We want to share our passion for horror, sci-fi, and cult classics with people who get just as excited about physical media and atmospheric synthesizer soundtracks as we do.
This transition is also a very personal journey. I have been wanting to learn and write proper English for a long time. My English might be a little rusty right now, and I will be learning as I go, but the passion for movies is universal. With a little patience, and with Ator bringing his incredible insights to the table, the writing will only get sharper.
Our ultimate goal is to reach all the true film nerds out there. Whether you are a lifelong collector of obscure video cassettes, a fan of practical monster makeup, or just someone who loves a great late-night movie, we want this to be your new favorite hangout spot.
Good luck, Frank. I will be watching
Thank you Mr Magnus! In the big leauges now – holy shit!
