Privacy and Cookies on The Film Loft

Welcome to The Film Loft! Your privacy is important, and here on the blog, we take fair play seriously. Since this is an independent film blog driven by pure passion, we don’t collect sensitive personal information, and we never sell data to commercial third parties.

We don’t do tracking or marketing cookies (like Facebook pixels or Google ad tracking). That’s why you also avoid an annoying popup banner nagging you for consent every single time you want to read a movie review.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser when you visit a website. At The Film Loft, we exclusively use strictly necessary, functional cookies to ensure the site’s technology and security work optimally.

Which cookies do we use?

  • Administration and login: If you are a registered user or log into the site, WordPress remembers your account so you don’t have to re-type your password for every single subpage.
  • Security and protection (Wordfence): We use a security system that leaves behind a necessary cookie to check that you are a real human being and to protect the blog against cyberattacks, hacking, and malicious databases.
  • The Cine-HAL Film Terminal: Our analog movie robot uses your browser’s internal storage (localStorage) or a functional cookie to remember the thread of the conversation while you chat with him. This is absolutely necessary for him to analyze your mood and seamlessly churn out the right movie recommendations.

Your rights and deleting data

You have full control over your own data. If you don’t want websites to store cookies, you can easily block this or delete existing cookies in your browser settings (e.g., Vivaldi, Chrome, Safari, or Firefox). The Film Loft will still work fine, but you might find that the memory function of our movie robot, Cine-HAL, is somewhat reduced if all local storage is deactivated.
