From the Vault

Welcome to Filmloftet – A Norwegian Film Blog

Great to have you here! This is a Norwegian film blog for true enthusiasts, and my personal film diary. Here you will find in-depth film reviews, essays in the Film Journal, and now our brand new sections: The VHS Vault and Directors!

In the store, and as a regular guest writer, I’ve got my childhood friend Thor “Ator” Dahlstrøm by my side – the man with a super-memory for 80s VHS gold. The goal of Filmloftet is to share a lifelong passion for film.

Genre Film and Horror!

Even though I appreciate both modern releases and niche art-house films, there is no doubt where my heart lies: genre films are my true passion. To me, the 80s stand as the golden age of cinema, a period characterized by fearless creativity and a unique soul that is hard to find in today’s blockbusters. Can you dig it!?

Horror movies will always have a central place here on the blog. There is something about the raw energy of classic horror that fascinates me, and I love digging into everything from well-known titles to those obscure gems that might only exist on a worn-out VHS tape.

Whether you are looking for a nostalgic trip back to the 80s, or want to read about how genre films have evolved to this day, I hope you find something here to inspire your next movie pick. Remember to rewind the tape when you are done. Enjoy, and I hope the smell of the deep fryer is STRONG!
